We enjoyed our visit to the Orchid Garden Eco-Village. Everything was included in what we paid except the meals at the hotels San Pedro and then at Tikal. Even when we went to places where the Mennonites had settled, they paid for the ice creams.

The service is truly like a home away from home.

The meals were excellent and plentiful.

What makes this a great place is the service. While Mr. Liao is a bit of a recluse and we never saw him, his wife Mrs. Christine Tsiang is wonderful and solicitous. She came and sat down with us for a short while at every meal.

The place was beautiful. There is something to be said for a tropical environment.

The only negative, which is why I did not give it five stars, was because the bathrooms were dated and were a little inconvenient to use. The bathrooms do not have to be converted into luxury places, but a little standardization would significantly increase the attractiveness of the place.

Much recommended!

To the people who have given it negative reviews, I would say that you are too used to the Disney-sorts of place (which I have also enjoyed). Belize is a desperately poor country. But it offers unique features not seen any where else in the world. Keep and open mind and embrace the Belizean ethos. Orchid Garden and Eco-village represents this.
